Meet Our Providers

Josh Oppenheim, M.D.

Dr. Oppenheim graduated summa cum laude from Union College (NY) and went on to receive his M.D. from Wake Forest University Medical School in 1982. He completed his Otolaryngology specialty training at Columbia University in New York City. Dr. Oppenheim is Board Certified in Otolaryngology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. He has been both President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Virginia Society of Otolaryngology. He is also a member of the American Sleep Disorders Association.

Karen Hermansen, M.D

Dr. Hermansen has been in private practice in Northern Virginia since 1980. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy in1972 from the Medical College of Virginia. She practiced pharmacy while continuing her education. In 1976, she received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Virginia. A surgical internship was completed at University Hospital of Case-Western Reserve in Cleveland in 1977. Otolaryngology training was completed at Yale - New Haven Hospital. She is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the local and state medical societies.

Josef Gurian, M.D.

Dr. Gurian is a native of Massachusetts. He graduated cum laude as a Benjamin Franklin Scholar from the University of Pennsylvania in 1985 and attended the University of Massachusetts Medical School, receiving his medical degree in 1989. Dr. Gurian did his internship in general surgery and completed his residency in Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in 1995. He was Chief Resident and was Clinical Instructor in Otorhinolaryngology at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine during his last year of training. Dr. Gurian is Board Certified in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association and is a member of local, state and national medical societies.

Richard Gardner, M.D.

Dr. Gardner is a cum laude graduate of Howard University. He received his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine where he was named Most Outstanding Student in Otolaryngology for his graduating class. Dr. Gardner received his Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery training at Georgetown University Medical Center where he three times received the Washington Hospital Center BRAVO Award for patient care. His research work has been presented at national meetings and published in leading medical journals. Dr. Gardner is Board Certified in Otolaryngology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.

Michelle M. Roeser, M.D.

Dr. Michelle M. Roeser pursued her undergraduate education
in Pre-Professional Studies and Anthropology at the
University of Notre Dame and was awarded a Bachelor of
Science with Cum Laude distinction in 2001. She earned her
Doctor of Medicine degree at Georgetown University School
of Medicine in Washington, DC in 2005. She completed
Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery training at the Mayo
Clinic in Rochester, MN where she trained extensively in a
variety of procedures including head and neck oncology,
otology, pediatrics, rhinology, laryngology, and facial plastic
surgery.

Ed Marion, M.D.

As of December 31, 2013, Dr. Ed Marion is no longer seeing patients. All of our providers are happy to continue the care of his patients. We wish him well in his retirement!



Todd Stugart, MSN, FNP-BC

Todd Stugart has been a Registered Nurse since 1987, and a Family Nurse Practitioner since 1997. Mr. Stugart obtained his undergraduate degree at George Mason University, and his Master's Degree from Marymount University.



Deena B. Hollingsworth, MSN, FNP-BC

Mrs. Hollingsworth graduated from the University of Wyoming with a BSN in nursing in 1971. After 3 years on active duty in the Army Nurse Corps she obtained a Masters of Nursing from the University of Colorado. She has a variety of nursing experience including renal and metabolic, critical care, and nursing education. She returned to Marymount University for a post masters certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 1998 and has provided care for children and adults in both primary and acute arenas.


Parawan Stalzer, MSN, FNP-BC

Parawan Stalzer is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She has worked as a registered nurse since 1991 and has experience in Intensive Care and Emergency Care. She earned a BSN from Christian College in Bangkok, Thailand and MSN from Catholic University in Washington DC. Parawan enjoys clinical practice and caring for patient of all ages.



Lisa Hartman, MSN, FNP-BC

Lisa Hartman, a Northern Virginia native, graduated from the College of William and Mary 2002. She taught mathematics at Hayfield Secondary School before returning to studies at George Mason University where she earned a master’s in Global Health. Lisa studied nursing at Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating with her BS in 2011 and her MS in 2012. She joined The Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist of Northern Virginia in 2012.
